Making of a bridge

To reach our land, you have to cross a river. Naturally.
The bridge that once stood there, however, was rotting beyond repair, and we were told a new one would be needed. Easy to say.

After many conversations and consultations for the first couple of months, Mihela finally put her foot down: we will build it ourselves. Timing helped. Just when we started, our forest manager happened to walk by, called a neighbour, who called another neighbour — and suddenly help was arriving from all sides.

Three days later, after many missing nails, moments of disbelief watching Janez skilfully navigate the digger, and the gentle coercion of our friend Nick into helping (with very little choice), we had a bridge.

It was something to experience….
